One day every store will be like this.

We think of it as changing the world, one t-shirt at a time.

No sweatshops – no landfill – no petrochemicals – no guilt. Just the pure joy of knowing as you
treat yourself, you’re treating the earth a little better as well.

bnaked-002second-hand

Second-hand things already exist. They don’t need to be manufactured so you can buy them. This saves time, energy, water, transport and resources.

Plus it frees your individual style from the tyranny of this week’s trends. Why be a clone when you can be yourself?

Recycled is the next best option to second-hand. It’s about seeing
the solution in the problem.

So that giant pile of tyres is not an environmental blight – it’s an untapped resource, just waiting to be turned into biker-chic satchels, mouse mats, and shoe soles.

We look out for hard-to-reuse materials that don’t easily break down. We love that the lateral thinking behind this recycling also leads to such fresh great design.

A lot of the chemicals used in everyday products are extracted from petrochemicals – that is, gasoline. Some have been linked with cancer and birth defects – but truly no one knows the lifelong effects they might have, let alone any hereditary effects.

What we do know is that your skin is very absorbent. Think nicotine patches: absorbed into the bloodstream through the skin. Using organic products protects you and your family from the build-up of dangerous chemicals. Plus you’ll smell sweeter and that’s important!

Biodegradable is nature’s own recycling. Everything you put in the bin ends up in landfill. Everything you pour down the drain ends up in the waterways. It all goes around – like karma.

But the claim ‘biodegradable’ is sometimes misleading. Think about it – biodegradable really just means it breaks down. Even nuclear waste is biodegradable… if you don’t mind waiting a few million years. So at Born Naked, we’ve really done our research. You can rely on our products to be safe and effective, and to break down after use quickly and easily.

Anything that really doesn’t break down easily – like, say, vinyl billboards – we need to find other uses for. Which brings us neatly back to recycling.

bnaked-027fair trade

Fair trade creates happiness and eliminates misery. Fair trade enterprise creates safe working environments, and makes real opportunities for poorer communities to take control of their lives.

In the Phillippines whole communities live off the creative recycling of discarded resources. Litter such as juice packs and tin cans are collected, cleaned, and reused in homewares, handbags, placemats, keychains... We salute the courage of these communities and are proud to offer their goods for sale.

Eco and social sustainability are linked. That's why at Born Naked we say, everything we sell is green.
